Getting Your E-mail

Getting e-mail by phone

The AOLbyPhone™ service makes it easy to hear your e-mail anywhere you can make a toll-free call. Call 1-800-AOL-1234, log in with your PIN, and say E-mail or press 2. You'll hear how many new e-mail you have.

The AOLbyPhone™ service will read the header information for the first e-mail to you and you can:

Tip - If you know what you'd like to do with an e-mail before it's finished being read, simply interrupt with the spoken or keypress command.

What do you want to do with the e-mail you've just heard?

After hearing an e-mail, you can say:

Sending an e-mail by phone

Say "Send a Voicemail" to send a voicemail message over the phone. It will appear as an e-mail with a voicemail attachment in the recipient's inbox. You can create and send a voicemail to anyone whose name is in your AOL® Address Book.

Switching Screen names on the AOLbyPhone™ service

If you've added other screen names to your account, you can check e-mail for all of them. After you have logged into the AOLbyPhone™ service or any time you're at the Main Menu, you can switch screen names in three easy steps:

  1. Say "switch screen names" or press "99."
  2. When asked to enter your PIN, type the PIN that is associated with the screen name to which you are switching, then press # on your telephone keypad.
  3. Press 2 and type the registered phone number for the screen name to which you are switching.

Setting up Mobile Alerts

You can get notified that you've gotten e-mail from the important people in your life by setting up alerts to your cell phone.

When you're alerted about a new e-mail, call 1-800-AOL-1234 to hear your e-mail.
