Set Up Quick Login Numbers and Bypass PIN

Set up Quick Login numbers on your AOLbyPhone™ dashboard. Create Quick Login numbers for the phones you use most often to call the AOLbyPhone™ service (e.g., cell or work phone number). When the service recognizes the number you're calling from, you won't be asked to enter your registered phone number, only your PIN. Log in even faster by choosing to bypass PIN so you can get straight to your e-mail.

Adding Long Distance Calling To Your Service

You can upgrade your service to include unlimited long distance calling to destinations in the US and Canada.

With this feature, you simply dial 1-800-AOL-1234, log in with your PIN and say "Phone Call" or press 4. Then you'll be prompted to enter the 10-digit number you want to call. It's just like having a virtual calling card. Call as much as you want, anywhere in the US and Canada for just a few extra dollars. Find out more.

Get 411 listings

Use the AOLbyPhone™ service to look up business, residential and government listings. There's no extra charge for this feature and it can help you save on charges from your service provider. Say "Directory Assistance" or press 3 at the Main Menu.

Address Book

Say "Other" or press 9 at the Main Menu to get to your AOL® Address Book to look up phone numbers and contacts.

You'll also have access to your Address Book when you choose to send an e-mail (say "Send" or press 7 in the Main Menu, or say "New E-mail" or press 1 in the e-mail section). To send an e-mail you'll record a message and choose a recipient from your Address Book. Then the message will be sent to them as a MP3 sound file attachment to an e-mail.

Schedule a Wake Up call

Schedule reminders for you or anyone else, up to a year in advance, with Wake Up call. Just say "Other" at the Main Menu to get to the Wake Up call feature. Then you can record a message, enter a telephone number and choose a date and time to have the message delivered.

Record a Journal Entry

Add audio to your AOL Member Profile so you can record Journal entries. Here's how:

  1. Create an audio entry in your AOL® Journal. Go to AOL® Keyword: Journals, set up a Journal, and then call 800-AOL-1234. Say "Journals" and record a message for the Journal you created.
  2. Copy the audio entry from your AOL® Journal. At AOL Keyword: Journals, click "Already have a Journal? Update it now!" to review your audio. Double click on the Journal that contains your audio greeting, then highlight and copy the hyperlink labeled "Play audio entry."
  3. Paste your audio entry into your AOL® Member Profile. Visit AOL Keyword: Member Directory. Click on the "My Profile" button on the right of the Search Profiles window, click "name" on left hand toolbar (or other Member Profile category where you want to post your audio greeting), and paste the hyperlink representing your audio greeting in the window adjacent to the "name" button.

Add screen names to your account

Like your AOL account, the AOLbyPhone™ service allows you to have up to seven screen names for no additional cost.

To add a screen name to your AOLbyPhone account:

  1. Log in to AOL on your computer with the screen name* you wish to add to your AOLbyPhone account. * Note: Only screen names that have been designated for Premium Service Billing and 18+ access may register for the AOLbyPhone service.
  2. Go to Keyword: AOLbyPhone.
  3. Register the new screen name with the AOLbyPhone Service and set up a PIN for it
  4. Call 1-800-AOL-1234, and log in using your new Registered Phone Number and PIN.

Making a screen name compatible with the AOLbyPhone™ service:

To add a screen name to an AOLbyPhone™ service account, it needs to be General Access (18+) screen name with Premium Services privileges.

Here's how to do it:

  1. To change your screen name Category Setting, the Master screen name holder on this account needs to go to AOL KW: Parental Controls.
  2. Select the screen name you want to change, click "Edit Age Category," and select "General Access (18+)" as the "Default Control" in the middle of the form.
  3. Save this selection and click on the "More Options" button in the upper right-hand side of the form.
  4. Select "Premium Services Control" from the drop down menu, and make sure that the "block premium services" checkbox at the bottom of the form is NOT selected. (This ensures that the extra screen name won't be billed for the AOLbyPhone service.)
  5. Click on "save" to save this change or "cancel" if no change was required.
